Ethics in Scientific Publications
Abstract
Mr. Editor:
When we refer to ethics in scientific publications, we assume it is implicit in that each of the articles that are published, this is not always true, because of this and in light of the new recommendations that are being made to biomedical journals in Bolivia as a result of the requirements and demands for their indexing the implicit has to be embodied little by little in a culture of writing scientific publications ethically. Therefore, it is necessary that the committees of journal editors as well as the bioethics committees have, among their components, people trained in technical and ethical aspects so that they can elucidate aspects that are at odds with ethics, both in the publication and in the conduct of the research study. Lying, falsification and plagiarism are at odds with scientific research and scientific publication, therefore scientific fraud should be investigated by the editor of the journal but fundamentally by the institution where the work was carried out. As for authorship, each author must have participated sufficiently in the work to assume public responsibility for its content.
